QUALITIES OF DIVINE MIDWIVES

MEMORY VERSE

Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

2 Peter 1:10 Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:

2 Peter 1:11 For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

MESSAGE

There are certain characteristics that divine midwives should possess in order to be effective in helping God deliver His babies. First, they must be skilful. 2 Timothy 2:15 says,

Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Divine midwives must endeavour to read wide on the subject of evangelising to people of different faiths and even to church goers. It is important to know all you can about effective soul winning because you are performing a very delicate assignment, and if you make mistakes, you could truncate the whole process of spiritual childbirth. If you go to book stores, you will find books on how to witness to Muslims, Buddhists, Mormons, Catholics, Jehovah's Witnesses, etc. You could also go on the internet to get such information to get you adequately prepared for this all important assignment.

In addition, divine midwives must be diligent and very hardworking. Proverbs 22:29 says diligence will determine your location. In other words if you are a diligent midwife, you will be able to access and deliver the souls that others could not. Do you know that some unbelievers are selective about the vessel God uses to bring about their salvation? Diligence will also bring about a harvest of souls at a time. Besides, persistence is another requirement for divine midwives. This means we must be prepared to continue to reach out to souls. Sometimes, you can preach to somebody and he or she will rebuff you. Some will abuse, persecute or even try to hurt you. Some people may be discouraged because of that but God expects you to be persistent. Continue to preach to and pray for the fellow. If one method fails, try another one. If that one fails, pray and try another method, keep on trying until the soul is saved. This season, the Lord will grace you specially, to be an effective midwife in Jesus name. When you win one soul thank God and go for the next.
