DRESSING FOR OCCASIONS

MEMORY VERSE

And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints. 

Revelation 19:8

Revelation 19:11-14

Rev 19:11 And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.

Rev 19:12 His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself.

Rev 19:13 And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.

Rev 19:14 And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.

MESSAGE

You are addressed by the dressing you put on. If you are dressed up with earthly clothes, you can only influence the earth. It takes putting on Jesus to influence Heaven and earth. What kind of clothes are you putting on? Revelation 19:5-8 describes the special dress the bride of Jesus will wear on the last day. It is going to be a white, clean and beautiful linen dress.

From the above scripture, we see that there is a link between one's state of righteousness and the dress one is wearing. In Heaven and in eternity, your dressing will speak of your righteousness. In those days, Christians were known not necessarily by their verbal confessions and claims, but by their dressing and modest adornment. Today, you can take some ministers for street urchins and take some minister's wives for women of easy virtues. Sister, if you attract rapists to yourself by your indecent dressing, don't blame God. Do not dress in ways that will attract such to you

Similarly, Revelation 19:11-14 tells us the kind of dress the Bridegroom would wear. His dressing reflects His righteousness as well as the battle He is going into. It is important to be well dressed for every occasion. When you are going to dine with the King of kings, your dressing should reflect it: you should be in your best. Your dressing will show your attitude to the Lord and that can also affect what you receive from the Lord's Table. When you are going to evangelize  how do you dress? If you are going for a very important interview, you can be assured that you will be assessed partially by your dressing. When you are going to offer God's greatest gift to man – salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, you must dress in clean, decent and presentable clothes. If your dressing reflects poverty, you are not likely to convert those who seriously mind being poor. They may turn you back for fear of being “infested” with poverty. You do not need to be extravagant either: let your dressing open the door for discussion with unbelievers.
